FAQ

  • Why do we not advertise bale weights? Bale weights cannot be reliably stated. With the ever so changing conditions that is the game of farming, even bales produced under perfect conditions (even in the same lot on the same production day) can vary as bales made in the early afternoon will weigh more than bales made in the evening. This is because even a small moisture percent decrease (actively monitored) as the crop continues to dry over a single production afternoon can mean a noticeable decrease in bale weight. The information that the “bale weight question” is actually aimed to ascertain is related to how the baler is adjusted and how much dry matter is available in each bale (the actual food to sustain your animals!). At Good Life Farms, we do not like flimsy bales. Both string and bale tension are optimally adjusted and monitored as poorly formed or even slightly loose bales almost always cause stacking problems both in the barn and on your trailer. Therefore, you can be assured that we do our very best to make consistent, well shaped and tight bales that “feel good” in the hand and offer an excellent value for your money.

  • At Good Life Farms, we strive to make the best forage products possible. This is the center or our entire farm model. We go above and beyond with applied science in the form of soils and forage testing to make land investment/ production decisions that empower us to make the best product possible.

My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life.
